Better Posture Using The Foam Roller

Feeling tight around your chest muscles? Are you finding yourself getting more neck and shoulder cramps? If this sounds like you then you need some help. And the help comes in the form of a foam roller. And you thought I was about to tell you about a magic pill, right? No there are no magic pills, but a foam roller can and will release muscle tension built up in those places I mentioned above. One of the best exercises I do when I find myself tight from a day sitting at the computer, yeah, I know I’m as guilty as the next person for sitting poorly at my desk, is stretching. Posture has never been a priority and so the end results are a stiff body. Thankfully I have discovered the foam roller.

I lay my spine length wise across the roller. From the back of the head to just above my butt. Then I extend my arms out as far as I can to my sides. Then I pull the arms in bending slightly until my elbows touch the floor as close as I can to my body. I relax my breathing and begin to feel the stretch in my chest. I stay in this position until my upper body feels relax, stretched, and I’m ready to go further into my stretch. I told you I was tight. Eventually the tightness will subside and I’ll feel better. There are many more exercises you can do to help find achieve better posture using a foam roller. Ask your personal trainer or go online and research some stretching exercises.
