A lot of people are tightening up their spending habits these days. Even though the news on the economy seems to be getting a little brighter here and there, many of us are still keeping a closer eye on where the money goes and where we can cut corners. Of course, one of the easiest ways to save money on a regular basis is to bring your own lunch to work or school. Eating out can really put a dent in your wallet and bring food from home can make a big difference in your weekly spending and probably your eating habits as well. Instead of stuffing a sandwich in a plastic bag every day, why not use one of these great reusable fabric sandwich bags!

I think these handmade fabric bags are such a great idea! No more filling up the dumps with more plastic bags. These neat bags are easy to use every day and can be hand-washed or placed in the dishwasher for easy clean-up. They come in really cute patterns too so you’re sure to find one to suit your style. You’ll probably get a lot of inquiries about them from co-workers and friends who will want to know where you found them. I think these unique kitchen accessories would make a great gift for anyone!

I remember my mom’s kitchen can opener – she had purchased it in brown to match the brown refrigerator she had. It had a knife sharpener in the back, though I don’t recall the knife sharpener ever working very well on it. It was a long time ago and it was a rather clunky looking gadget that never seemed to know where it belonged on the kitchen counter. It ended up being parked near the stove and unfortunately it became a bit rusty and coated with kitchen grease over the years. Luckily can openers have come a long way since back then, and this Ergo Cordless Can Opener is by far one of my favorites.

This cool can opener combines the convenience of a hand-held can opener with the ease of an electric can opener. Because it’s so adaptable, you can easily open cans of any size. And this great lightweight opener can open more than a dozen cans on just one charge – then you simply recharge it in its compact base. I like that it doesn’t waste batteries and I think this versatile and modern kitchen can opener is a perfect fit for my new kitchen.

As Thanksgiving fast approaches, I’ve started looking ahead to making plans for the holiday. While it’s still weeks away, I like thinking about the dinner menu and desserts ahead of time so everything goes smoothly. Plus some family members enjoy bringing their own dish or dessert, so they like knowing what’s in store to prevent ending up with duplicate dishes. This year I am very exciting about cooking the turkey, because I’ll be making it in my new Romertopf maxi clay baker.

I absolutely love this clay baker. I have one of their smaller bakers, which I’ve used for years for my smaller meals. The food turns out extraordinarily delicious, producing juicy meats and perfectly cooked veggies. This year I purchased the maxi baker so I could cook my bigger meals the same way. And you can cook so many dishes in this cookware, even soups – plus the dish is beautiful enough to use as serveware too. I know my mom is going to be coveting my clay baker when she sees it, so I’ll probably surprise her with a piece of Romertopf cookware as a Christmas gift.
