Pitchy Voice Lost Contest
Singing with a pitchy voice is the quickest way to lose a vocal contest. Timing issues can be ignored, but pitchy singing is something that fans world wide have come to loathe. The problem has been exercised by the television show American Idol where every episode focuses on the pitch of performers. This is challenging for singers because most can not tell when they are on pitch or not when singing on a stage.
The first problem is that it can be difficult to discern personal pitch because accuracy changes daily based on food, diet, allergies and overall health. The ability to hear ones own voice accurately is problematic from many perspectives. Next, live performance venues provide additional challenges that perplex singers and lead to pitchy voice. The long list of equipment and gear used for application demonstrate the difficulty in the singers voice sounding remotely similar to their own while singing. When performing in a new venue, many singers do not know the sound impact of the live reinforcement system. Whether is it s a good system or not, the differences in feedback quality frequently confuse singers and encourage pitchy singing. In ear monitors have proven to help tremendously, but these are too expensive for the common singer.
