Grow a Forest of Italian Cypress Bonsai Trees

The Italian Cypress (cupressus sempervirens), or Mediterranean Cypress, is a great outdoor bonsai tree to grow in groups. Originally found in the eastern Mediterranean area, this bonsai is susceptible to the cold. This means you’re going to either have to bring it in during the winter or grow it in a fairly warm climate. However, it’s certainly worth the trouble. These bonsai look amazing when grown in small groves. They feature very fine green/gray leaves that actually grow in flattened sprays. They also grow tiny elongated brown cones during the year, something that is somewhat rare in bonsai.

Wondering where to find an Italian Cypress? In the past, it was somewhat difficult to find a bonsai. However, because of their increased popularity, today, you can find bonsai at many places, including gardening centers, nurseries, and even department stories. However, these bonsai are often only starter bonsai and not true bonsai trees. For specialty bonsai, you may have to look online bonsai store or seek out shops that deal only in bonsai trees. It can be very difficult in some areas to find rare bonsai like the Italian Cypress, especially in areas where bonsai do not typically flourish.
