Choosing between an Oregon coast honeymoon or staying in luxury Portland hotels is a challenging choice, so let’s compare the options. The first thing to consider is the time of year for your honeymoon and how far in advance you’ll be making your reservations. The Oregon coast has wonderfully romantic aspects almost any time of the year, with a few warnings. The winter is great when the weather is clear, but most of the winter brings rain and storms. Storm watching can be incredibly romantic for a honeymoon, but depending on your location, power outages could dampen your spirits. Spring can be wonderful on the coast, but in some weird season years, Spring can be mostly rain for weeks at a time – rain is fine, but if you need sunny days on the coast, consider a different time of year, or shift your attention to Portland, where much of the romantic appeal is indoors. Summer and most of the Fall are fantastic on the Oregon coast with no worries about problem weather

Another consideration is whether you want more “nature” as part of your honeymoon, or whether you might better appreciate staying luxury Portland hotels. There are a few luxury hotels on the Oregon coast, but you won’t find much nightlife or fine arts on the coast that can match the offering in Portland. In Portland you not only get a large offering of five star accommodations, but you can visit the art museum, attend the symphony orchestra, go dancing at hundreds of prospective venues, and dine at a different elegant restaurant for each meal.
